Two men arrested after dramatic police chase ends in city centre
Two men were arrested after a stolen car was driven into a police car during a dramatic chase through Liverpool.
Police initially followed a white Transit van after it came to the attention of patrols in Kirkdale.
The vehicle was pursued before two men abandoned it in Derby Road.
They then took a white Kia Sportage car and drove away - again followed by police.
During the pursuit the car was driven at the front of a police car on Heathcoate Road in Walton, causing minor damage.
A 39-year-old man and an 18-year-old man were detained by police and arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking.
Eyewitnesses reported a huge police presence around Lord Street as police tried to track them down, with up to six police cars parked up near to Debenhams.
The damaged Kia car was parked outside Pavers shoe shop, flanked by police cars.
One man said: "I heard a lot of noise, and saw the police chasing the two blokes in the white car."
Other witnesses reporting seeing "about nine vehicles" driving at speed through the city centre, with two police helicopters overhead.
