New 2020 Kia Sorento spied testing
The new 2020 Kia Sorento SUV has been spied road testing in heavy camouflage. The photos hint that the all-new seven-seat SUV will get a significant restyle and we also expect the introduction of a plug-in hybrid model for the first time. When it arrives in UK showrooms next year, the Sorento will rival the Skoda Kodiaq and the Hyundai Santa Fe.
Despite the disguise on the Kia Sorento test car pictured, the spy shots suggest that Kia’s new flagship SUV will be larger than the outgoing model, giving it a slight increase in both interior and boot space. It will also get a restyled front end, with new LED headlights and a large front grille. The roofline will be more steeply raked than that of the current car, giving the new model a sharper-edged look along with a redesigned tailgate.
Inside, the new Kia Sorento will be updated with the firm’s latest 10.25-inch infotainment system. Elsewhere, we expect the revised interior to gain in terms of quality with soft-touch materials throughout, and ambient mood lighting.
Kia is likely to offer the new Sorento with a diesel engine, with a choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic. There’ll also be a plug-in hybrid model that is likely to combine a four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor and an automatic gearbox to offer enhanced fuel economy. All variants of the new family SUV will be four-wheel-drive with a seven-seat layout.
